Description of Department:
The Serious and Organised Crime Proactive Team -SOCPT, (formerly Central Detective Unit) are responsible for the investigation of a wide range of complex investigations targeting Organised Criminal Groups. The City of London Police are National lead force for Fraud and Cyber and the proactive team is growing under our current change programme in a bid to further support our Local and National responsibilities.
The team will investigate local, National, and International criminality as well as providing a function to respond to crime in action investigations when required. The unit have close working relationships with law enforcement partners and other agencies in the fight against Organised Crime.
The team also have specialist knowledge around Counterfeit Currency Investigations, Money Laundering, Human Trafficking and Modern-Day Slavery, Drugs Importation and Supply and Cyber related crime.
Applications are sought from dedicated, flexible officers who can demonstrate experience of intelligence led, proactive and serious and complex investigations.
Officers should be motivated, able to identify innovative ways of problem solving, and work with minimum supervision.
A successful candidate will demonstrate in interview their ability to be able to work efficiently in a small team, to develop themselves and other team members in emerging crime trends or new methodology. They should also be able to demonstrate their proven ability in developing investigations through effective use of intelligence, communications data, and open source.
Types of Qualification(s) needed:
PIP level 2 or working towards PIP 2 accreditation
CoLP is dedicated to staff development and offers a range of training and development opportunities. Applicants must hold a current driving licence. Applicants must be willing to undertake driving and surveillance courses.
The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
