Description of Department:
The City of London Police is the National Lead Force for fraud. Its responsibilities include national reporting and triaging of fraud, coordinating the police response to fraud and identifying emerging threats and demand on behalf of policing. City of London Police is developing intelligence capabilities within its National Fraud Intelligence Bureau to create an enhanced intelligence network across national, regional and local policing.
An opportunity has arisen for constables/detective constables to join a new Cyber intelligence Team part of the Enhanced Cyber Reporting Service located within the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau within the City of London Police. Successful candidates will be part of a small dedicated unit gathering intelligence via multiple sources to tackle the key threats from cyber on a national level, to develop the understanding of those threats and to create intelligence packages for enforcement, disruption and prevention work
Candidates will be required to identify develop and disseminate quality, useable intelligence focusing on the cyber enabled crime causing most harm within the UK. Candidates will have access to, and be expected to make use of the intelligence and information received into the NFIB, the National Lead Fraud Investigation Teams, Regional Crime Units, and police forces across the UK. The role will also require liaison with key stakeholders in industry and counter fraud and cyber agencies who hold relevant information to assist in combating cybercrime nationally and internationally. Candidates for this role are expected to be familiar with police intelligence and investigative opportunities, ideally within the cyber crime or fraud arena.
Operational requirements will necessitate the need to travel nationally where required to gather intelligence. There may also be a requirement to provide some on call capacity.
