British Transport Police Federation are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to provide secretarial support to its in-house Solicitor and Executive Team. This is a full-time, permanent position and will be based at our Head Offices in West Dulwich. About the Federation

We are a well-established Federation, having just celebrated our centenary year. A staff association funded by our membership we represent over 3000 police officers. We are a small executive team consisting of National Chair, General Secretary, Treasurer, Solicitor and Office Administrator.

Duties

• Dealing accurately and effectively with queries from members in respect of legal cases, with due consideration of the need for confidentiality.
• Preparation of written correspondence to include audio and copy typing.
• Responsibility for the maintenance of the Case management System.
• Maintenance and management of case files.
• Maintenance of the organisations digital and physical records system, to include archiving, ensuring agreed procedures are adhered to.
• Diary management for the executive team.
• Minute taking for all meetings as directed by Executive and at Conference
• Assist with the organisation and administration of Annual Conference
• To perform all other duties ancillary to the needs of the Federation as directed by the Executive Team.
• Strong research skills
• Preparing court statements and forms
• Transcribing and proofreading legal documents
