Safeguarding Case Officer
The role of the Safeguarding Case Officer will be to coordinate and conduct the investigation of safeguarding incidents and complaints reported to the RFU, in conjunction with other RFU departments as required. The Safeguarding Case Officer will support the Safeguarding Case Manager in coordinating the RFU Referral Management Group, including the preparation of all relevant reports and information for consideration, completing actions arising from the meetings and communicating the relevant decisions to the parties concerned.
The post-holder will act as the day-to-day point of contact for external safeguarding partners, for example the NSPCC, Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), Police, Children’s Services and Local Authority Designated Officers (LADO). The role will require working with key client groups such as Legal & Governance Director, HR Director, RFU Player Welfare Manager, Constituent Body (CB) Safeguarding Managers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
The Safeguarding Case Officer will also assist the RFU Discipline Department with the management and handling of all safeguarding cases that involve potential regulatory breaches and/or misconduct issues and provide advice and guidance on disciplinary and regulatory issues to Constituent Bodies (CBs), clubs, parents and players when required. The role will require fostering relationships, cooperating and sharing information with key individuals/teams within the RFU, including the RFU Head of Discipline, Anti-doping and Illicit Drugs Programme Manager, CB Discipline Secretaries and clubs, players, parents, administrators, police forces, courts, other regulatory/governing bodies and statutory agencies.
