An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to be part of a dynamic and forward thinking Inspection Team within Essex Police.
The ideal candidate should have an in depth knowledge of the policing environment and importantly be able to demonstrate considerable experience in the field of conducting policing investigations.
This varied role involves completing inspections and reviews across a whole raft of investigations throughout the force. The main aim and priority is drive consistency and raise investigative and safeguarding quality, ensuring that where appropriate feedback is provided to staff and managers.
The candidate will identify patterns and drive consistency, identifying persistent problems with investigations and safeguarding, as well as highlighting best practice. You will review standards of file quality and where necessary ensure feedback and learning is provided to staff, management and the Service Executive.
This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to monitor the application of strategic direction regarding investigation and safeguarding.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of police policies and procedures. In addition, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to ensure reports, meetings and briefings are delivered to high professional standards.
Good analytical skills are also required in order to identify trends and make appropriate recommendations. Write and produce reports on the outcomes and make recommendations from the audits, inspections and reviews, for the information of and subsequent consideration by the force’s senior managers, to inform and support decisions on force improvements
The candidate will also be responsible for scrutinizing the work of investigation teams and as such the ability to manage and maintain positive working relationships is also essential.
The post holder must be able to demonstrate some recent experience within an operational investigative environment and of safeguarding vulnerable persons.
You need to be a highly motivated, flexible and dynamic individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
After suitable training, be prepared to conduct data quality and compliance audits of PNC and PND, against Essex data, validate the accuracy of the data safeguarding the security and integrity of the systems.
